APPEARANCE
Being still just a child compared to most of the Zukai army, Lutec is still rather small. This makes him agile in battle, and his grey fur allows him to blend into most of the battle-charred scenery. His eyes are a pale amber colour, and his entire body is littered with darker grey markings. His bears some resemblance to a dog or wolf, with two floppy ears and a large, fluffy tail that he mainly uses for balance. Lutec is very good at running with speed, and coupled with his agility, it makes him a difficult opponent to hit in a fight. Apart from his blue markings, Lutec has one other strange mark on him. It is a dark grey butterfly on his left arm, and a mark that he has had since birth.
His clothes are relatively simple, patched together from various pieces of cloth and stitching. He also has a jacket which is tied almost constantly around his waist. However, hidden within these simple clothes are quite a few hidden pockets that he uses to store items – one of which being his sketchbook. He also carries his blades here, along with any items he gets given by others. He also carries a needle and thread, which are hidden in yet another pocket. Another trademark of his is his neckerchief, although he shifts its position from his neck quite often.
His number (751602) and Zukai symbol are on the back of his jacket and tattooed across the back of his shoulders.
PERSONALITY
Lutec has a secret passion to draw, but tends to keep his sketchbook hidden until nobody else is around. He is also adept at sewing, having had to repair his clothing on countless occasions. However, to most eyes he is a hot-headed teen with a short temper and a taste for getting himself into trouble. Although officially just a Scout, Lutec constantly argues that his abilities are good enough to become a Reaper and often ignores orders to stay behind the lines of battle. He doesn’t really have any close friends yet, and concentrates more on earning the respect from his superiors that he believes he deserves. He takes pride in pissing off the Lao as much as he can, and has had to wriggle free from a few tense situations because of it, but he has promised himself that he will never stop fighting them.
One thing that Lutec also tries to hide (but usually ends up being discovered) is that he is constantly plagued by blackouts. He frequently becomes dizzy and disorientated, his vision goes and then he blacks out. He has no idea why this happens or how to help it. It has become an increasing problem in battles.
HISTORY
Lutec was always fairly rowdy, even as a kid. He loved causing mischief and would happily wreak havoc in the Lao-controlled area around his home. He didn’t mind that he didn’t know his real parents – Lutec thought himself lucky to have been picked up by anyone, let alone people as nice as they were – and quite liked that they weren’t troubled by the constant threat of war. Sure, they had to block up their doors and windows a few times to avoid the fighting, but at least none of them were being put at risk. At least, that’s what he thought. As he grew up, Lutec began to learn about the chaotic, battle-scarred world around him. Being on the borderlines, he could see both sides of the war, and slowly began deciding on his opinions about it all. The Zukai homes were either in ruins or overcrowded, their peaceful lives shattered by the Lao’s untimely entrance and their spirits broken. The Lao, however, lived in what he guessed you could call luxury in comparison, domination in their eyes and spite being passed between them. But from neither side did he receive any kind of friendship. The Lao children around him giggled and muttered about him under their breath. He was too strange, too Zukai for them. But the Zukai also turned away – he lived on Lao land, so therefore he was not their ally. The only real comfort Lutec ever found was from his own family… which is why he was so devastated when they both disappeared on the same night.
He searched for them both endlessly, his father and his sister. Faron was the first to be found – his body washed up on the shores, eyes cold and full of fear. They held a funeral for him, but nobody else came. Who could? All of those who used to fight alongside him were now dead, and the family had no longstanding friends to speak of. Nevertheless, Lutec’s search continued. Caiyra still needed to be found. His search for her was considerably less fruitful, however. He refused to believe that she too had perished amongst the waves without proof, and instead began searching the city. He believed he spotted her on more than one occasion, but never caught up to the girl in the familiar purple cape. Nobody would help him try to find her. The Lao wanted nothing to do with this strange boy and his missing sibling. Not a single person gave him any information, any more leads. His mother couldn’t aid him either – she had become silent and alone in her sorrow, seeming to forget that she still had one member of her family to look after. Soon the day came when Lutec was due to join the army. The Lao sent him his uniform and number, but Lutec wasn’t sure that this was what he wanted. So instead, he took a walk and once again saw the girl he believed to be his sister. There was something different about this encounter, though. The girl was not running or hiding. No, far from it. She was talking to him. He who ruled over the Lao, he who had turned this once beautiful city into rubble, who had created this society in such a way that nobody would help a boy find his missing family. Lutec felt the anger and the hatred rising up inside, and that’s when he decided on what had to be done. He immediately left the Lao borders. No goodbye would have been enough for his mother, so it was best not to say anything at all.
It took a while before the Zukai accepted him as one of them. He still remains in the lowest of ranks – a Scout – but does all he can to spite the Lao in every way possible. He’s determined that he will get his sister back someday and possibly find out the secrets behind his heritage, but right now all that can wait. He has bigger, Lao-encrusted fish to fry.
ATTRIBUTES
Lutec has no known powers or magical abilities. His main weapons are his Apku Njkuukus Rtomin, in Zukai, which he looks after meticulously.
