APPEARANCE COMING SOON PERSONALITY Vincent, starting off as a bitter, self centered prick, is a generally nice guy once people get to know him. He's a man of many flaws, a bit of an idiot, deathly loyal, and quick to blow up when he gets irritated. He seems to find himself with injuries quite a lot, possibly because he becomes a bit too big for his boots in the heat of battle, or because he's quite quick to throw a punch as soon as he feels threatened.
Despite his prickish actions, Vince isn't all that bad a guy, caring deeply for his friends and colleagues, and easily affected if any of them are threatened or hurt, going after their tormentor's with a vengeance. Which...could lead back to his regular arse kickings, too. On most occasions he acts like a smartarse, whether on purpose or not one can't really say, and ends up saying the wrong thing around people. He tends to joke and smile a lot, his kidding and jesting sometimes getting on people's nerves, not that he cares all too much. However he can be serious at times, quiet and thoughtful and a good listener should someone confide in him.
To the common observer his relationship with Audrey doesn't seem like anything more than friends and rivals, constantly bashing each other down, snapping and making jokes at the other's expense. However, below the surface, Vince is every bit in love with her, quick to defend her and constantly concerned that he'll disappoint her or irritate her.
He's strategic, quick when it comes to battling and travelling. He has a hard time managing his anger, though, snapping when frustrated or upset, and infuriated when it comes to the cruelty of others. He's the sort of guy who always carries a weapon of sorts, always prepared.
HISTORY Ah, where does one begin when it comes to Vince? His mother died when he was but eight years old, about the time that Audrey left their little town to travel the world, which he took about as well as a stab in the back. Upon her return he was the bitter arsehole he always was at eighteen, ten years after his mother’s death. Somehow Audrey convinced him to travel for a bit, and it wasn’t long before he found himself immersed in sinister plots, fights for right and wrong, and a cousin and sister whom he felt the need to look out for. Oh, and somewhere in all the drama and torture, he found he was in love with his best friend turned enemy/rival combo. Yeah, that was kind of weird.
Life moved on, and Vince soon decided to return home to unwind and lead a normal life – if normal could ever be applied to him. Obviously it didn’t, for less than two years later he received a proposition from the army to join and fight against…some group called the Zukai? Honestly, he had no idea what that was, but finding his action-lacking life a little boring, quickly signed up and was deployed to the other world, soon coming to regret his actions.
First of all, he missed Audrey terribly, growing homesick and miserable quite quickly in the first few months. Second, he found himself sympathising with the opponents, the indigenous people of the world they were trying to take over. Vince had always had a strong sense of right and wrong and, of course, what his people were doing was dead wrong in his eyes. So, carrying only the two pistols and dagger strapped to his belt and the light armour of the Lao, Vince slipped out during the night and made the trip over to the other side, seeking to join them.
Of course he didn’t really expect that his welcome would be anything but a warm one, and so was quite surprised when all he felt was a sharp pain in his back and then darkness.
Now, one might think that to wake up next to your own body and finding it cleaved in two, gutted and split at the waist, that you might just flip out and go batshit insane. But not Vince, no way, he took it all in stride.
‘Course he was way too busy looking at the speckled white wings that now spread from his shoulders. Yeah, that would probably affect his reaction. As it was he found he really couldn’t fly for shit, ending up crashing several times until he managed the small flight to Zukai HQ. Here he was greeted by one Aiden Scott, who went pale as if he’d seen a ghost before going nearly instantly on the war path.
Apparently Vince coming back to life after he’d killed him upset him.
However, undeterred, Vince was quickly accepted like a brother into the Zukaian army, and worked hard until he gained the respect of the masses and was given the role of Officer, much to Aiden’s fury. Now rather in control of the Army, Vince spends his days fighting, plotting, or keeping to himself where he can wallow in misery and miss Audrey with every fibre of his being.
