Master Laeroén

Note: This character was created for any Night Puppet who needs a Puppet Master to be their leader. I'm not sure if I'm allowed more then one character, but I offered to create this character so that Dayze's Night Puppet can have (as requested) cruel and ruthless leader. Just trying to help out the master-less Night Puppets out there.

Since he was created as a universal master for all leaderless Night Puppets who wish for a leader, feel free to comment/PM me and I'll add your Puppet under the list. Also, if there are attributes you wish to change so that he fits for your Puppet description, also comment/PM me. I'm not trying to sound superior or arrogant or anything. I'm just trying to help.

If I'm not allowed to be an Officer, just tell me. I was unsure whether I should make him one or not.

Sickly-pale. Has bright carmine runes written down back.
Hair is short and well-groomed. Earthen brown.
Fingers are long and skeletal, ending more in points then rounded tips.
Is semi-tall, with broad shoulders.

PERSONALITY

Master Laeroén is ambitious and power hungry. He never says so explicitly, or makes it obvious, but he does try to gain the highest rank possible. He will pull any strings necessary to climb in rank. He also is protective of his own life, fearing death. Not because he is afraid to enter the void, but because he is frightened another Puppet Master will bring his soul back and force him into slavery.

To say at the least, Master Laeroén is xenophobic. He is afraid of aliens, afraid of possible contaminations they might carry, and afraid of the power they might hold. This leads him to be wary of his creations, for he himself is unsure whether they are Zukai or Lao. Or how well his power keeps them in control, for another matter.

Confidence and charismatic is another way to describe Master Laeroén. He revels in power, basking beneath its glow and keeping it out of reach of others. Without power, Master Laeroén's confident demeanor changes. He grows quiet, draws in on himself, and is fidgety. His charisma also pulls from his power, practically a cloud around him when he has it, and disappearing entirely when he doesn't. Power has become a crutch to Master Laeroén. Without it, he is nothing.

He has a sort of weird version of "fatherly love" to his creations. While he treats them like slaves and servants, he takes care of them and lets them use him as sort of a bumper from the fury of the superiors. His character has blurred for most of his servants/slaves/creations, a mix between perhaps an insane father and cruel master.

He is also obsessed with fairytales. This leads him to randomly recite them to himself (or anyone around him at the time) or even nicknaming his creations after them. Take that as you will.

Also has obsession with "beauty" or "perfect creations". Idea of perfection is a perfectly submissive puppet, beautifully built, and is a monster on the battlefield. But so far, all of puppets have been considered flawed. Along with obsession of beauty is the obsession of destroying it. Has tendency to destroy anything that is perfect and not his.

HISTORY

Master Laeroén, or just Laeroén at that time, was a traveling artist. He had a twisted curiosity with children fairytales and the dead, often mixing the two together. He constructed giant, macabre sculptures of fairytale characters going through twisted fairytales. The Woodcutter hacking the wolf open with a hatchet to show Little Red Riding Hood and her Grandmother inside, or the old witch burning inside her oven with Hansel and Gretel laughing outside. What made Laeroén's art even worse was that the sculptures were real; souls ripped out of fairytales and placed inside bodies, then frozen for all to look at.

Laeroén's superiors, other Puppet Masters, did not approve of the waste of souls. He would have had his powers removed from him, were it not for the announcement of invading the Zukai. There, Laeroén started to use the dead souls of both Zukai and Lao to build himself a puppet army. Only this time, he didn't freeze them. He forced them to fight in the war without any choice, deciding that even if they did die, he could create plenty more.

His name would change to Master Laeroén as he moved up the ranks of the Lao, becoming soon an officer to his army of puppets. He was hired by the Lao nobles to protect their citadel. He would do this for several months, until he saw a group of Zukai leading a raid on the citadel. With twisted interest, he allowed the Zukai to cut off the main funders of the Lao army.

Not that it mattered to him. After the Zukai left, Master Laeroén quickly moved in and attempted to harvest the souls of the nobles. Most of the souls had already departed though, and Master Laeroén managed to capture only one soul; a Valkyrie.

The lost noble would soon become Master Laeroén's favorite. Although useless in the battlefield (and even low-level reconnaissance), the idea of a noble falling below a rank of a mere artist was enticing to the Puppet Master.

Master Laeroén would go on to enslave more souls and build more robots, until he found the idea of Drone and Command units. Assign certain (hopefully competent) puppets with a cadre of drone —or artificial intelligence, robots— units and have them command the drones in battle. Therefore, less souls would be wasted.

The plan has worked with mixed results. The drone units work fine, but they are too unintelligent to actually work semi-independently and need constant supervision. The appointed Drone Unit Commanders also have not done so well...

ATTRIBUTES

Able to summon spirits to do ones bidding. Also includes ghosts.

Can bring fairytale characters to life, but drains life from him. Fairytale characters also have limited intelligence and are lethargic at the best of times.

Has small amount of prediction abilities. Example: has bad feeling when something extremely bad is going to happen. Extremely bad as in the universe ending as we know it, or whatnot.

Excellent with building robots. Robots make up large amount of puppet army.
